Our library is a community effort! You can help the Jaquith thrive with your time, your energy, your interests and your donations of items, talents or financial resources.
How to help
The Jaquith Public Library is supported by the generosity of the taxpayers of Marshfield and by many individual, organizational and corporate donations of time, money and materials. Please consider supporting the library with a donation today.
There are many ways to help the library. We try to keep this list updated, so check back in from time to time. Thank you!
~DVDs
~Books for the annual Friends of the Library book sale in late January. (Clean books -- no text books or encyclopedias. Please contact the library before bring in books.)
~A volunteer with good computer skills (teens welcome) to help us for 1-3 hours a month with questions that arise. Someday we'd love to offer a "Tech Time" for patrons to drop in with their computer questions and find a volunteer with some helpful ideas to offer. No need to commit to this right away though.
~Volunteers of all sorts. We welcome volunteers of all ages for any amount of time that you may be interested in. What could I do to help? We're sure we can find the right fit for you could be helpful while doing something you enjoy. It could be helping out with one event, like a benefit concert where we could use help setting up chairs, perhaps running a bake sale, folding up chairs at the end.
We would love help with tasks that happen on a regular basis. Here are some of the things that might appeal to you, depending on your interests: shelving books, putting labels on new arrivals of books, putting letters on our road sign to help advertise upcoming events, helping post events on web sites like the Times Argus, and dusting the shelves even. Other special events include the nearly monthly event of Art and Author Night--Friday evenings with an art show/reception and then author's reading--help needed setting up some refreshments, perhaps rearranging some furniture.
How much time would I have to commit? You are welcome to start with a small commitment of one event, as mentioned above, or just start with one or two hours a week or a month. We form a strong friendship with our volunteers over time, but don't feel like you have to commit for months on end if you're unsure about it.
Susan Green, our director, would be happy to talk to anyone interested. You can contact her via email at jaquithpubliclibrary @ gmail.com or call her at 426-3581.
Thank you to our Sponsors!
Thank you to all our volunteers--whether you shelve books for us weekly or volunteer to give a presentation or donate a service or item to our silent auction. Also, thank you to our individuals donors and business sponsors who make many of our special programs possible.
